festival drawing to a close - Frank Ockenfels Workshop

Sitting here overlooking the pool at the sweet colony hotel - its the last day of the festival, and boy am I glad to have made the journey.  It has been a great opportunity to learn and gain insight at a time when I sorta need it. The facts are that really its a matter of hard work and constant reaching beyond my own personal safety net to get where I want to go with my shooting.  The drive home across the desert and winding hills back to the coast will end out this adventure tomorrow.

Here are a few pictures of Frank Ockenfels teaching my workshop:

These are some of the images created in Frank Okenfels class this past few days. We used light sources from every type of reflective and luminated object we could find:

Palm Springs Photo Festival

I'm happy to have a moment to sit here and write as I enjoy the mellow vibe at my hotel,  the colony palms.
For the past two days I've had the pleasure of learning from the gifted Frank Ockenfels. The ease with which he opens our minds to the simple and obvious ways of using light is refreshing.
The entire event (Palm Springs Photo Fest) is pack full of lectures / discussion panels /portfolio reviews. / the opportunity to rub shoulders with established photographers / editors /art directors /museum curators / technical advisors.  It has opened my eyes to the way things all fit together - that this is a job that creative minds do on a daily basis.

here are some images I took of my fellow students in today's class:
